This August 2024, Diponegoro University (Undip) once again welcomes new students to the Department of Marine Science, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK). The New Student Admissions (PMB) activities held this time were lively and full of enthusiasm, with various important agendas aimed at providing a positive initial experience for new students and introducing them to the academic environment that will be their place of study for the next few years. The series of PMB activities began on August 9 2024 with an opening ceremony at Muladi Dome. This ceremony was an impressive initial moment, where new students from various study programs at Undip gathered to take part in this ceremonial activity. This event was also filled with remarks from university leaders who provided motivation and direction to all new students.
Furthermore, on August 12-13 2024, an Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) activity was held which was organized by the faculty. In this activity, new Marine Science students are introduced to the lecturers who will be their teachers and academic supervisors. The lecturers introduce themselves and provide a brief overview of their respective areas of expertise, so that new students can get to know the lecturers more closely and understand their profiles. Apart from that, new students are also invited to learn more about the location of FPIK and its surrounding environment, by visiting various facilities in the faculty, such as laboratories, classrooms, libraries and research centers.
The PMB activities were continued with the Character Education (PENDIKAR) event which took place on 14-16 August 2024. In this activity, new students were given training regarding character values that are important to develop while studying at Undip. PENDIKAR also aims to instill the values of togetherness and solidarity among new students, which will become important capital during their studies at the Department of Marine Science. During the series of PMB activities, new students also have the opportunity to take part in various supporting activities, such as interactive games, question and answer sessions with seniors, as well as artistic and cultural performances presented by students. These activities not only aim to strengthen relationships between fellow new students, but also to foster a sense of pride in being part of the big Undip family. With the end of the series of PMB activities, it is hoped that new students will be better prepared to enter the challenging world of studying in the Department of Marine Science. Hopefully they can make achievements and contribute to the development of science in the marine sector and have a positive impact on society and the environment.
