Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is one of the serious health problems in the world and is a concern in all countries. At present to diagnose DM is done by interviewing and checking blood glucose levels. Unfortunately, the assessment of the diagnosis is still done conventionally, because the diagnosis is carried out only in physiology and is unable to show the anatomical structure of the pancreas and a picture of damage to the pancreas that results in DM. In this study, the proposed image processing method uses a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) modality to measure the size of the pancreas which is a health parameter for DM patients. This study was conducted using MRI which is used to scan the pancreas in DM patients. In addition, scanning for non-DM patients is compared. Computers have been used to process imaging data digitally using computer programming to obtain the length, diameter and area of the pancreas. The measurement results were compared between DM and non-DM patients. The results of this study show that the size of the pancreas in people with normal blood sugar is greater than in DM patients. © 2019 IEEE.
